Biography

You know what's missing from Hip Hop? An artist who understands what women need (in the bedroom). A Chicago native, artist, Doc Mananoff addresses this topic directly with his latest project, the “ Addiction” series.

While he's well versed, as other rap artists are, in expressing the plethora of things that happen in life, evidenced throughout his career, he has always been and still remains unrivaled when it comes to sexual innuendo and X-rated raps. He proves this fact during his exploration of his “Addiction” to sex in his current work, the “Addiction” series.  The songs showcase his lyrical versatility as an artist and the honesty he's valued and more importantly, respected for as a man, in both his professional and personal life.

The “Addiction” project, with it's sultry melodies, and erotic, provocative, slightly raunchy lyrics intertwining perfectly with his sensual beddable voice, clearly show the progression of his “Addiction”. From start to finish, he takes us along on this extremely personal endeavor in understanding his sexual “Addiction”, while simultaneously, succeeding in his quest to impart every woman with an opportunity to achieve orgasmic equality, with or without a partner to ride along.

The series begins with his realization that he has an addiction to sex in the first track “Addiction” featuring Elle Black, released Aug 11, 2017, you get to eavesdrop, in a way, on his personal thoughts as he opens up about how sex is affecting his life. And now, in his latest release, the second track in the series, “Addiction Dos”, featuring Leona Dulce, we begin to see how his addiction plays out in real life after contemplating the effects of the addiction discussed in the first track.

In the beginning, he was a “B Boy” and graffiti artist, and became well known for his graphic artistic skills among other artists, and therefore began to gain lots of local exposure for his work. And although he continued to grow as a graffiti artist, which is still a big part of his life today, he quickly discovered that music is his real and absolute true love.

Having been heavily influenced by emcees like T La Rock, Big Daddy Kane, and LL Cool J, and local artists and Chicago Hip Hop pioneers, JMD, Top Dog, Double C. and others, his art and musical style has grown, expanded and matured over the course of his career.

With the ability and vision to recognize talent, he introduced the demo tape of a young Kanye West to producers Dug Inf and NO ID in 1992. Under the moniker “Papa Doc”, he was featured the TSP 'Look what the wind blew in' in 1996 and on the Breaking Bread Entertainment Compilation CD “ This Thing of Ours” in 2002 as well as a string of cameo appearances and singles.

Not to mention the musical genius, George Clinton of Parliament/Funkadelic has been a friend and admirer of Doc's music and has described Doc as “ A hell of a lyricist”.

He also captured the attention of Lyor Cohen of 300 Entertainment (formerly of Def Jam Records) who reached out to tell him he liked his music. More recently, Adult Film Star Leona Dulce, publicly stated “I absolutely love your beat and sound… And I love that you tell a story, not just made up words because they rhyme.” Doc didn't expect that she would become a friend as well as be part of his story, and later be featured in his music on his most recent track, “Addiction Dos”.

Doc Mananoff has performed in both small and large venues in Chicago, New York, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico.
And plans of making European tours especially in Germany where some of his music has found fans.
